CIBIL (India's first credit information bureau) is a repository of information, which contains the credit history of commercial and consumer borrowers. CIBIL provides this information to its members in the form of credit information reports.

As on September 2009, CIBIL has an information base on over 140 million consumer trades, and 4 million commercial trades which continues to grow at a fast pace. CIBIL shares credit information with its 175 strong member base on the principle of reciprocity.
